Harold Courlander American Corner: Film Club
After opening Français conversation the club, the American Corner opened his second club this Thursday, February 10, 2011 at 2 pm: The Film Club. This club will give readers the Monique Calixte Library (BMC) as others to discover weekly movies and documentaries on specific topics and discussion after the screening. Four films will be screened as part of this month of February in the United States designated the Black History Month and dedicated to the history of Afro-American (*): Boycott, Malcolm X and Amistad When we were kings. Following the impact of the earthquake of January 12, 2010 on universities Haitian Haitian Education and Leadership Program (HELP) and its partner longtime FOKAL, have created an Office of University Partnerships (UP) which will interface between U.S. universities interested in helping their Haitian counterparts and universities interested in working with Haitian American institutions. Youth Club VDF Darbonne, meeting February 4 in a small school in the countryside Leogane, expressed their view of democracy in Haiti, in a lively atmosphere. 33 young girls and boys, ages 15 to 18 years, have discussed what is a dictatorship, a democracy. One year already since that day of l2 January when the earth rocked Port-au-Prince metropolitan area and its surroundings. The year 2010 is responsible for all kinds of perils (storm, gale, cholera, elections), which complicated the already difficult lives of the population. And to crown the year 2011 opens again an earthquake of another kind: the return of Jean-Claude Duvalier in Haiti. Indeed, during the month of January, Haitians disbelief, saw land on Haitian soil the worthy representative of the Duvalier dictatorship collapsed under the purview of the popular resistance in February 1986.
