Jazz Festival in Port-au-Prince - Eblén Macari Trio - Live in the FOKAL

In the context of the completion of the fifth annual Jazz Festival in Port-au-Prince, the Mexican trio Eblén Macari occurs this Saturday 26 February 2011 at 4 pm in Room Fokal-Unesco Foundation Knowledge and Freedom-FOKAL.


Eblén Macari Trio is one of the most amazing experiences in Mexico right now. This group is composed of Eblén Macari Martinez, Mexican of Lebanese origin, composer and guitarist, David Peña, who plays the drums Arabic darbuka, djembe, and Jesus Cuevas who plays wind instruments from around the world, including the Armenian dudak, bagpipes, ney Arabic, Thai ken and clarinet. From time to time, Eblen Macari, Jr. joined the band on percussion. Eblén Macari has explored a wide range of sounds, using modern technology to further explore the classical guitar, transforming the sounds of this instrument in full. The group examines the sounds of classical guitar, ethnic roots, and freedom of jazz and experimental electronics. Using two guitars eight and six strings with electronics, synthesizers, pipes Mexican, Arabic percussion and instrumentation at various wind. After appearing at festivals throughout Mexico, the United States and Europe, the group has made important contributions to music, developing and consolidating trends in music. An adventure that demonstrates the artistic freedom of jazz combined with the holdings of traditions and influences sound millennia, creating a highly original and mixed.


The FOKAL support the Festival de Jazz de Port-au-Prince since its inception in 2007. Last year, organizers were forced to cancel the festival due to the earthquake and the budget allocation has been transformed into a support fund to help forty professional musicians.


The concert Eblén Macari Trio, Saturday, February 26 at FOKAL is free within the limits of available seats. Invitations are to withdraw FOKAL, at 143 Christopher Avenue, 9 am to 4 hours pm.
